Please be in prayer for our churches in Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan

As you may have heard p.Matti speak on Grace Hour of the violence and ethnic conflict on the Uzbek and Kyrgyz border; please continue to keep our churches in both countries in prayer as the conflict could easily spread into the regions where we have our churches. At present our people there know people that have died and lost loved ones in the violence. In Osh and Jalalabad where the conflict has been we hold contacts.

One article states today that Roza Otunbayeva, Kyrgyzstan's interim leader, says the death toll from ethnic clashes in the country's south could reach 2000, manifold higher than the official figure of 200. 1 million people have been affected in the region and 400,000 are now with out homes. 100,000 ethnic Uzbeks have fled from Kyrgyzstan acroos the border into Uzbekistan. Her comments on Friday came shortly before she visited Osh, the southern city wracked by clashes between ethnic Kyrgyz and Uzbeks over the last few days. "I would multiply by 10 times the official figures," she told the Russian daily Kommersant - "Because there were very many deaths in the countryside, and our customs dictate that we bury our dead right away, before sunset."

Let's keep these people in prayer as well as the plans for our Central Asian conference we have every year in Kyrgyzstan.

Thank you and God bless you.

After Him,
P. Christian and Gosia Moore
